Department of Health: Importance of finger prick tests - type 1 diabetes

News from: Healthwatch Reading

27 February 2013

Healthcare professionals are being reminded of the importance of finger prick glucose testing for people living with type 1 diabetes.

Reading LINk would like to share this news with your service users, as Diabetes UK and many others have expressed considerable concern that people with type 1 diabetes are not always being prescribed enough finger prick glucose testing strips to monitor their blood glucose. This means those affected cannot adjust their insulin during the day, or do safety checks.
